Hi there!
I am DR. DEVYN CHAMPAGNE, DC

I am a Chiropractic Physician with a trauma- informed approach, full of compassionate and heart- centered energy.  I want to extend and hold open a space for you that is genuine and comforting.  Holding this space is extremely helpful in furthering relaxation and releasing mental or emotional stress that may be contributing to the physical stress on the body. I am a strong believer in mindfulness and somatic work to cultivate a healthy balance of body, mind, and spirit, and I love to incorporate intentional breathing exercises to address this piece as well.

Our bodies are meant to be used actively and thoroughly, with a variety of dynamic movements and postures.  Acute injury whether from sports, work, a slip and fall, or injury from daily repetitive movements, such as poor work ergonomics, tech neck, running, biking, knitting, gardening, all place undue stress on our joints and muscles causing degeneration.  As a Chiropractor, my focus is on the root cause of dis-comfort, dis-ease, and decreased function. Movement, variety of movement, and balance are key in creating both inner and outer alignment of the body.  As an avid lifetime dancer, mover, and shaker, I place an emphasis on posture, musculoskeletal imbalances, biomechanics of the body, and nutrition. Since no two individuals are the same, I customize my treatments utilizing a variety of adjusting techniques and, if needed, muscle/ soft tissue work, as well as instruction for a home routine of stretches and exercises.  These techniques and modalities help to aid in recovery from injury and promote longevity of general wellness.  I love to educate my patients about their own bodies and to empower them to be proactive with their own health.

Growing up, my Norwegian grandma and her traditions were very present in my life since my roots are a Scandinavian mix, with an Italian flare!  Her sisu was so inspiring to see and experience and I have abundant gratitude for her.  After living in Portland for a few decades, my husband and I moved to Astoria after years of dreaming of living here. I absolutely LOVE the PNW and there’s nowhere else I’d rather live.  I grew up ocean swimming and long boarding regularly, dancing a variety of styles since the age of 4 with emphasis on ballet for 10+ years, and playing a variety of sports.  I have a passion for yoga and how it brings the breath, body, movement, and mind together into the present moment.  An avid water, animal, and nature lover, you can usually find me gardening at home, or out playing at the beach or the river with my pups and husband.

Pregnancy and chiropractic:

I am Webster certified, a member of the American Pregnancy Association (APA), and the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).  I have an extra emphasis on working with pregnant moms, post-partum moms, and babies.  Pelvic balance greatly influences the birthing process and helps decrease dystocia, one of the reasons for obstructed labor or lengthy labor, allowing for mother and baby to have an easier birthing experience.

Webster technique is a gentle treatment used to balance the pelvis and create an idyllic pelvic bowl for the baby to position him/herself properly for labor.  It can be helpful for breech presentation, but also to maintain balance even if the baby is already in position.  This technique is all about balancing the mother’s muscles, ligaments, and pelvic alignment, and does not in any way involve the doctor moving the baby. It’s about creating a nest that the baby will be more eager to lie in properly. The baby then moves him/herself if and when ready.

I am a licensed Chiropractic Physician nationally and in the state of Oregon since 2013.
